Special Adviser Meets with Judge Bangin Qasim, Head of the Judicial Council of Kurdistan

Erbil, 26 October 2020 - Special Adviser Karim A. A. Khan QC met with Hon. Judge Bangin Qasim, Head of the Judicial Council of Kurdistan. Discussions focused on continued collaboration between UNITAD and KRG judges, including assistance that UNITAD can provide to ongoing investigations of ISIL crimes committed in Iraq.
Special Adviser Khan and Judge Qasim also discussed capacity building measures to ensure that international crimes trials are held according to international standards. Special Adviser Khan expressed UNITAD's readiness to provide the support needed in this regard.
